Applications
2-Phenoxyethanol is used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, inks and resins. It is also used as a fixative for perfumes, insect repellents and topical antiseptics. It is utilized as a surface active agent. It acts as an anesthetic in the aquaculture of some fish. Further, it is used as a preservative and cosmetic raw material. In addition to this, it is used in preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients and dyes.

Solubility
Miscible with water, ethanol, propanol and propylene glycol.

Notes
Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
