Cellulose, microcrystalline is used as an emulsifier, bulking agent in food production, extender and anti-caking agent. It is also used in vitamin supplements or tablets. It acts as an alternative to carboxymethylcellulose. It finds application in partition chromatography. Further, it is used as a thickener and stabilizer. In addition to this, it is used as an excipient in the pharmaceutical industry.
