Doxycycline hyclate, Doryx, CAS # 24390-14-5, is the hyclate salt form of the broad-spectrum antibiotic known as doxycycline.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Acros Organics product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. General description

  • Doxycycline hyclate is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic of the tetracycline class
  • Doxycycline inhibits bacterial growth by preventing polypeptide formation via inhibition of at least one ribosomal subunit
  • Known to reversibly bind the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibit formation of the aminoacyl-tRNA/mRNA-ribosome complex
  • Inhibits matrix metalloproteinases in many microorganisms

Applications

  • Effective against the bacteria that cause Lyme disease, chlamydia, rickettsia and mycoplasma; suitable for antibiotic resistance testing and study of cellular mechanisms
  • Intended for laboratory use only
