Descrizione
Gentamycin Sulfate is a broad-spectrum, aminoglycoside antibiotic used for cell culture which inhibits protein synthesis in sensitive organisms. Reported to have activity against gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and some mycoplasmas. Reported to have low toxicity to mammalian cells and viruses at certain concentrations, useful for long-term tissue culture studies with viruses. This compound is a mixture of Gentamycin c1, c1a and c2.

General Description
• Gentamicin sulfate is a bactericidal aminoglycoside antibiotic which shows activity against Gram-negative bacteria
• It works by inhibiting protein biosynthesis through binding the bacterial ribosome 30S subunit
Applications
• Gentamicin sulfate has been used in studies to determine wound healing due to its antibiotic and antifungal properties
• It has laboratory research applications in the study of a number of clinical conditions, including actinomycotic infection, appendicitis, cystic fibrosis, osteomyelitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, plague, gonorrhea, and tularemia
