Isolate Legionellaceae in environmental samples with this selective medium which conforms to ISO standards and yields optimal recovery of Legionellaceae.

Isolate Legionella from water samples using Thermo Scientific™ Legionella BCYE Medium with Antibiotics, a selective medium that conforms to ISO11731:2016 Water quality – Enumeration of Legionella and exhibits optimal recovery of Legionellaceae in short incubation periods from environmental samples.

Legionella are aerobic, motile, nutritionally fastidious, pleomorphic, gram-negative rods that require special growth factors in culture media to grow. Legionella BCYE Medium with Antibiotics is a recommended medium for the isolation of Legionella from water samples:

  • Yields optimal recovery in a short incubation period
  • Conforms to ISO11731:2016 standards
  • Quality control tested according to ISO11133:2014, including membrane filtration method
  • Selective against non-target bacteria like Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli
  • Easy-to-read results as Legionella form gray-blue colonies
  • Tested in accordance with the methods described in ISO 7704:2023
