Safer way to open glass ampules and avoid painful and dangerous sharps injuries.

  • This easy-to-use multi-use ampule opener helps to avoid unacceptable sharps injuries rates seen when ampules are opened by hand.
  • Opening ampules is a particularly high-risk event with 26% of needlestick and sharps injuries (NSIs) being caused by opening an ampule or by broken ampules.
  • The device was invented by a registered nurse in Rockhampton, Qld, Australia who recognized that millions of tamperproof glass ampules are used each year within health care and related practice to contain pharmaceuticals.
  • The practical benefits are clear however the injury rates have always been significant.
  • You simply insert the ampule lid into the multi use SnapIT making sure you have the correct size.
  • If there is a dot on the ampule then align this with the dot on the SnapIT.
  • Snap away from your body to open the ampule.
  • You can then eject the glass ampule lid directly into a sharps container.
  • There are both personal and trolley versions available in the range:
    • Trolley Edition: for team use featuring a flat side so it can lay on a bench top or trolley without rolling away - perfect for hospital medication preparation areas.
    • Pocket Edition: anodized aluminum for personal use on a key ring, hung from a lanyard or kept in your pocket.
    • Lite Edition: made from sturdy, low cost plastic.
  • Regular size Snap-It can be used with ampules of 1-2 mL, 5-10 mL and 10-15 mL and the large trolley edition can be used with ampules of 5-10 mL and 20-25 mL.
