Descrizione
- Sambucus Nigra (Elderberry Bark) Lectin (SNA, EBL), fluorescein (FITC), is a bright-green SNA-fluorophor conjugate. SNA belongs to the group of type 2 ribosome-inactivating proteins and is composed of an A-chain with enzymatic activity and a B-chain with carbohydrate-binding activity. SNA can induce apoptosis through the caspase-dependent pathway at low concentrations.
- This effect depends on the carbohydrate binding of the B-chain and is independent from the catalytic activity of the A-chain. In colon cancers, it has been reported that 90% of carcinomas express increased levels of sialic acid, linked to galactose residues on the surface of tumor cells, that is detectable with SNA.
- Very bright FITC conjugate detected with traditional FITC/GFP filter set, Ex/Em: 495/515 nm
- Applications: immunofluorescence, glycobiology
- Sugar specificity: sialic acid
- Inhibiting/eluting sugar: 500 mM lactose
- Blood group specificity: non-specific, A > B, O
- Unconjugated lectin molecular weight: 140 KDa
- Immunofluorescence working concentration: 5–20 μg/mL
- SNA-FITC is provided at a 2 mg/mL concentration in 10 mM HEPES, 0.15 M NaCl, pH 7.5, 0.08% sodium azide. 0.1 mM Ca2+
- A precipitate may form during storage. This does not have a significant adverse effect on the product. If a precipitate forms upon long-term storage at 4°C, warm to 37°C and centrifuge before use.
